While I can’t possibly applaud Dara O’Briain for his appearance on BBC1 this morning (he made no mention of PC gaming in particular, shocking!), I was surprised at how well he handled himself against the fantastically bizarre comments from Susanna Reid. Dara spent some time talking about the impact gaming has had on our country and the way in which it’s become a mainstream form of entertainment and storytelling. He gave good examples of some recent games that have tried to redefine the experience (Heavy Rain, for one), and whether I agree or not with that particular example, I thought, as a gamer myself, he did a good job representing one of the things I love in life.

Star Trek DAC is based on the new 2009 re launch of the orginal series.  Its been developed by a small company, Naked Sky.  Its a small game made by a small company and as such its getting a small review!

Whys it called DAC? Well thats pretty simple……

D = Deathmatch, A = Assault and C = Conquest, what a fucking poor naming system!  I’m afraid the theme of poorness really does run through this game.  Its a top down space shooter initally designed for the Xbox 360 which has been ported to the PC.   Its also a bloody 360 arcade game.  The idea of the game is to kill the opposing team or every other player if you happen to be playing free for all.  Its very limted in weapons (each ship has only the one) and very limited in gameplay.  Basically this thing could and should have been an iPhone app at best.
