Serious Sam Second Encounter Is Going F2P

Mr Sam has clearly decided that not enough people have encountered his Second Encounter, and as such Croteam has said that from the 15th of May (Diablo 3 release date!) various multiplayer modes will be going f2p. They’ve done the odd f2p weekend on Steam before, but this looks to be the real deal, full on, all the time f2p goodness.

For your no cash monies, you’ll get access to CTF, Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Last Man Standing, Instant Kill, My Burden, Team Survival and Survival. There isn’t much information at the moment regarding where the paid for items will come from and how they’ll work, but no doubt Croteam will release some more details when they’re ready. There will be a £3 DLC pack which will have various maps, but that’s it so far.

And to finish off, have a baffling quote:

Just the thought of all that extra cash is making me download some content into my pants,” claimed Fork Parker, CFO of Devolver Digital, “Profit makes me horny.

…yup.

Is this not considered to be the worst Sam, a travesty of a game?

Yeah. Probably trying to find a way of making cash out of the one game in the franchise to be shit.
