This Weekend was a HUGE one for the esports community, so I thought I’d round up all the major news in one place, just in case you missed anything.
MLG – Spring Championships, Kespa Invitational, WCS USA Nationals for Starcraft II, League of Legends and for the Fighting Game community SCV, KoF XIII and Mortal Kombat. Blizzard also turned up with the Heart of the Swarm beta.
Results as follows:-
Starcraft
DRG beat out Alicia to win the main SC2 event with MKP 3rd, though I have to give mad props to Sase who came all the way through the open bracket to take 4th, slaying Koreans and Stephano along the way. Vibe took the WCS with a pretty solid display and the Broodwar legend that is Flash took the Kespa Tournament for his first SC2 win, expect a few more of those. Heart of the Swarm was on display though not a lot of coverage has yet spilled out beyond Day[9]‘s commentary of some Blizzard controlled games. I thought the funniest thing was some bright spark decided to 6 pool everyone he played against on the demo computers as everyone else was trying to tech to the new units. There’s always one!
League of Legends
TSM went undefeated all weekend to take the title, though both the CLG teams (NA & EU) ran them very close; CLG NA taking 2nd and Dignitas 3rd.
FGC
Not my thing but here’s the winners, KoF: IGL-BALA, SCV: Keev_ and Mortal Kombat: kndetroitballn
