Weekly offers at GamersGate

Steam has joined the masses of mobile apps available to users of those touch screeny things that people are always using. The idea is to allow people Steam functionality on the go. Where they are going, we know not, but apparently they need access to Steam on the journey. Valve had this to say about the move to mobile devices:

With the Steam app, gamers around the world may chat with Steam friends, browse community groups and user profiles, view screenshots and user-generated content for their favorite games, read the latest gaming news, stay up to date on unbeatable Steam sales, and more.

If you want to be part of the beta, you can download the app from this here linky.

As you are no doubt an avid viewer of our high-class, high-quality, and high-brow YouTube, you will have already seen Stylosa have a look at King Arthur II. Won’t you? Well, if you haven’t I’ve been awfully kind and helpful and embedded the video, so you can, and if having watched said video you wanted to try the game yourself, well, that can be done as well! Paradox have released an hour long demo of the game. Give it a try!

This week we decided to cover gaming rage. We go into detail on possible causes and how random people raging really can have a negative impact on gaming experiences.

As if the Warhammer 40k madness on GamersGate wasn’t enough, Greenman Gaming is offering Skyrim for quite the juicy discount as well. 50% off in fact, and since it’s clearly Game Of The Year you should have it. Given it’s been stuck at about the £35-£40 mark pretty much since release, not even falling significantly for the Steam Christmas Sale, you should leap upon this opportunity to play an epic, excellent, and just downright classy game. When the clock strikes 12 GMT, go here, spend your hard earned money, and then go forth and shout people off cliffs.

You there! You need to go and buy some games, and might I recommend the Warhammer 40k series? Yes, I might, because GamersGate seem to be offering every Warhammer 40k game for at least 40% off, up to 75% off in some cases. That’s ridiculous. If you haven’t got these games, go and buy a few of them now, because they’re awesome and, for whatever reason, hilariously cheap. Dawn of War Gold Edition is £8.50. That’s insane. You know how much I paid for the two games in that? About £75.  Seriously. As for Space Marine, it’s £15 here, and £35 usually. Go here, and buy something, and do it now. There is no excuse, get buying!

Terraria, the side scrolling 2d equivalent of Minecraft, is going for a retail release soon, thanks to Merge Games, who have published a load of games I know nothing about and probably don’t want to. Despite being a year old, Terraria is going to get a box and a fancy cover to call it’s very own, and the main difference between the digital and retail versions of the game is that retail will be 20 of your English pounds. As opposed to the £6 that’s currently being charged on Steam. Eh?

The retail version comes with an item that apparently lets you summon a pet rabbit (in the game, obviously), some trading cards, a keyring in the shape of a pick axe and a poster. The  £20 box filled (not even to the brim) with some useless rubbish and a game that costs £6 online will be available from the 16th of March should you wish to buy it. Which you probably won’t.

I think Q2 2012 is the end of June. Maybe. I’m not entirely sure. I’ve never liked all this Q nonsense anyway, what’s wrong with just giving us the name of a month and trying to make sure the game is out for that month? Anything else is just confusing. Carrier Command: Gaea Mission (terrible name) will apparently be out in Q2 of this year, so you can look forward to that. In the meantime there are some fancy colour pictures for you to browse after the break, which show all manner of fancy contraptions.

You know how older folk like to moan about games causing people to become more violent? Well they’ll fucking love this then, I picked some chap up and ripped him in half with my demonic extremities at one point, it was pure.

Inspired by the popular comic book series produced by Top Cow Productions, Inc., The Darkness II is an intense first person shooter that delivers a twisted and gripping narrative of tragedy, modern crime drama, and supernatural horror.

The Darkness 2 has a demo for the PC. It’s due to come out for the PC on the 10th of February, so it’s about bloody time. Thanks to the wonder of the Internets and YouTube, you can now see what the game will look like on the PC via that fancy trailer, up there. That’s not just any trailer either, it’s a launch trailer. Repeat after me: “Oooooooooh. Aaaaaaaah.” Anyway, that’s that, and the tech specs are below. Not that they matter since this is a console port and will, bar some ramping up of the AA, look like every other game brought out on those progress stopping machines, i.e., about 4 years old.

Oh yeah, does anyone else, when they see The Darkness written down, immediately think of this? Thought so.

And as result, we like Fred Wester. Well, it’s not quite that simple, but we like him anyway. The CEO of Paradox has given his views of DRM via Gamespy, and as often happens with things to do with Paradox, he has endeared himself to PC gamers the world over with his statements:

It’s so much simpler to develop for the PC — you can decide everything for yourself… The PC is very rewarding because the audience is very knowledgeable about the games, they’re very hardcore, they’re very quick with their feedback, and we have a great relationship with our customers.

Damn straight. Read on to see what else the wonderful Mr Wester had to say.
